We have had another great week settling back into nursery or just settling in for our newbies. We have been adapting back into routines with the new addition of ‘Special Person’. We are all special in nursery but it is nice to recognise this daily in our session, we choose a different child each day to be our ‘Special Person’ for the day. The child is given jobs to do in class such as helping to hand out our snack, shake the tambourine at tidy up time and take the apples down from our register tree. The Special Person child also gets to sit on the Special Person chair during our story time and large group times in the session. The child also gets to wear a hat or tiara/ crown, jewels, receives a sticker so we know who Special Person is but most importantly they have the option to have a sprinkle of the magic fairy dust following their magic taps (with the wand of course). The magic dust (glitter) gives the child special powers to help them with their jobs in class. Every child will get the opportunity to be our Special Person, there is lots of learning which is taking place during this time , crucially the children are learning to take turns and be happy for friends (this sometimes takes some practice!). We give the children clues when we are trying to discover who is going to be our Special Person so it is good for the children to start recognising differences between themselves and others, it is great for improving listening and attention skills also. We have a lot to get through in our short sessions in nursery so we need to make sure we get started with our Special Person time at 8.55, if possible please could all children arrive in nursery for this time. We do this at 12.30 at the start of our afternoon session.
Here are some pictures from some of the learning that has been taking place through our play this week.
Even on the coldest of days we make the most of outdoor learning and all the benefits this brings to your child, please can all children come with a warm coat (waterproof if possible please), hat and gloves and during the rain and snow if children are coming to nursery in their boots please could you put their shoes(velcro fastening please) inside their bag. If your child hasn’t already brought a pair of wellies into nursery to keep here, please can they do so with their name on as we use these daily for going down to our adventure playground in our wet suits.
We would love to have your comments on our nursery blog with regards to what your children have been up to in nursery and at home during the week. We love to hear what they have loved and haven’t! It all helps with planning for their next steps and supports their individual development. They might be showing interests at home that they are not yet in nursery that we could support and encourage in our environment. All about me books helps us with this also!
I have sent out my first parent share of observations from 2simple and I have made sure that everyone has received one, please can you let me know if you have not received one on the email that you gave to me on the parent share forms. The new children will receive one as soon as we get your email details back on the form and we have your signature on the parent share policy. Just a reminder that observations are not to be shared on any form of social media, thanks in advance.
Hope you enjoy having a glimpse into your child’s learning…more to follow!
