We are designing a Stone Age home and decided that the roof was a very important part of the structure.
We took three materials which would have been around in those days: ferns, moss and bark and devised a fair test. We poured 5ml, 10ml and 15ml of water on each and observed how much soaked through or ran off according to how wet the sugar paper was.
We decided to use moss as insulation to keep warmth in and bark as a waterproof shingle to go on top of the moss.
Can’t wait to make our homes!
