Who knew that orienteering could be so much fun! We have been learning about the main compass points and the children had a brilliant way to remember  them. They all decided that they should Never Eat Soggy Waffles! It was fun and exciting to learn about keys on a map and how they are used to find where you are and  identify different places on the map. We started off in the hall creating obstacle courses and plotting on the map where our partners were and then progressed to outdoors with real compasses. We learnt how to plot the different points on a map using the symbols in the key.  Using maps and compasses outside created lots of opportunities to practise these skills and the children had a great time.
