The children in Early Years took part in World Nursery Rhyme week, each day the children learnt a new nursery rhyme and performed them for their parents.
Monday: The Big Ship Sails. The children created their own big ship when we went to Forest school using the resources they found. We then practised some touch counting with the little people on the boats and some number recognition. The children made their own boats to see which ones could float and which ones would sink in the water area.
Tuesday: 12345 (Once I Caught A Fish Alive) We listened to the story Only One You and created our own fish, we discussed and celebrated how everyone is different and unique.
Wednesday: Five Little Speckled Frogs. The children learnt about the life cycle of a frog and explored pretend frog spawn. We re-enacted the song using puppets counting one less than the previous number.
Thursday: BINGO. The children listened to the story The Great Pet Sale and created their Vets areas and learnt all about how Vets take care of different animals. We discussed how others can help us including the different emergency services.
Friday: Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. The children made salt dough starts to decorate and keep for the Christmas Tree. We looked at the different planets and stars in the sky.
