Over the past weeks, we have been looking at the first Easter and how Jesus took the bread and wine from the Seder meal he was celebrating, and reinterpretated  the meaning of these items for his followers. He told his followers to remember him when they take the bread and wine. We have been discussing the similarities between the Seder meal and the Last  Supper  and have looked at the links between Pesach (which we studied last term) and Easter, in particular discussing the significance of the bread and wine to Christians.  Young Catholic children celebrate their first Holy Communion at Easter which is a very special time in their lives. We found out that  different Christians share the meal but call it by different names- Communion, The Eucharist, The Lord’s Supper.  Christians celebrate the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday in churches across the country. Finally, we looked at the symbolism of eggs and why we eat Easter eggs- not just because they are chocolatey and delicious.
