The children have been learning lots of interesting things about Judaism. They have been learning how Jewish people use the Torah to show them how to live according to God’s commandments. This includes wearing certain items and they had great fun trying on a tallit and a kippur. Making their own scroll with facts about the Torah was great. I hope you got to see them when they brought them home. Learning through singing was great fun. “It’s My Mezuzah” was a rather catchy tune. They all designed their own mezuzah and would know where it would go in a Jewish household. After listening to the story of the Exodus of the Jews they learned abut the festival of Sukkot and designed their own Sukkah, remembering the different elements that are needed, like the space in the roof to see the stars. Singing again, to learn about Simchat Torah and why it is a favourite celebration in the Jewish community. Finally, they worked in pairs to interview each other about some of the things that they have learned about over the term. They have worked so hard and have had a great time learning about Judaism.
