The children had a great time with the visiting musicians. They sang lots of old Geordie songs about the famous people from our fabulous area. They sang ‘The Keelrow’ and ‘Cushy Butterfield’ to name just two.
Lyla was a great news broadcaster, bringing us loads of interesting information about Joseph Swan, Earl Grey, Geordie Ridley, Thomas Hepburn and Grace Darling. All of the children had an opportunity to play along with the band with an instrument and some even had to wear clogs! Cameron trying to squeeze his feet into a size 5 was something to see- but he succeeded.
Finding the pulse and keeping the beat was a bit tricky at times- especially when it was a three beat bar- however everyone was up for the challenge.
The session ended with a rousing performance of Cushy Butterfield and huge smiling faces.
