Painting like Frida Kahlo has been great fun. The children learned about Frida, her early life and her career. Examining her pictures to find out their meanings and how she used animals and objects in the background to symbolise feelings and times in her life. The children have painted themselves and used the colour of their background to catch their character. They did a fabulous job thinking about their own characteristics and how to represent them in the form of an animal. It can be quite a tricky thing to do! Mixing skin tones to match their own was time consuming and they had to be patient to get the right results. I’m sure you will agree that we have lots of budding artists.
