SCHOOL MEALS
Children have a choice of ordering a hot school meal or bringing a packed lunch. We encourage the children to display good table manners and learn the social skills required when eating together.
When your child enjoys a school meal you can be assured a lot of thought has gone into making it as healthy as possible. We only provide food that is fresh, prepared daily and which provides everything your child needs to feed their bodies and their minds without compromising quality and choice. Therefore, we have put into place the ingredients that make our school meals service one you can trust – from preparation to plate.
Payments for school meals should be made in advance. If meals have not been paid for, School will send a letter home before the debt reaches £20 to advise that your child will need a packed lunch until the debt is cleared.
There are many options for parents and carers who may struggle to pay for their child/ren’s meals and we can advise and support you if that is the case.
School dinner payments can be made via Arbor MIS . This will offer you the flexibility to make payments whenever and wherever, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We ask for all school meals be paid in advance to stop debt accumulating. Please see our policy below for more information. If your account falls into arrears we will ask you to provide your child with a home packed lunch until the debt is cleared, as per our policy.
If you are having difficulty paying please contact school or the Benefit Section at Gateshead Council. The details are below.
