This week we made cards for the Queen, explored money in Maths and learnt all about the United Kingdom including using the colours of our flag in baking cakes. To celebrate such a monumental event in British History we learnt a song about the Queens likes and jobs.

Forest friends
Each week we love our forest sessions. We explore the principle of plan-do-review where we decide what we are going to do and write a list of equipment we need to help us to prepare for our session.
Measuring using cm and m
The children have been fine tuning their measuring skills using trundle wheels, rulers and metre sticks.
Finding non-unit fractions of numbers
What are coordinates?
In 4B, we've been exploring coordinates within the first quadrant. To really get to grips with how coordinates work, we created quadrants in the hall and described coordinates before plotting our own. By walking along the axes, we were able to get a great...
Making beanstalks
After listening to the story Jasper's Beanstalk, the children in Nursery used a range of resources to create our own beanstalk. First, we used pipe cleaners, twisting them around and attaching them to each other to make a giant beanstalk. Adults modelled new...
What is happening?
In the week where the weather brought us sun and rain we used mathematical vocabulary when investigating ”what does half mean”?
Using bar models to find fractions of numbers
We’re going on a length hunt…
We enjoyed measuring different items around the school, both indoors and outdoors using cubes as our non-standard unit of measure. We worked in teams to help us count, because some of the lengths were almost 100 cubes!
What is symmetry?
In maths, we have been learning about symmetry. Using mirrors and folding pieces of papers, we have explored what symmetry is and how to find lines of symmetry.
