Following on from reading the story of ‘Superworm’ in choosing time the children made wands just like the evil lizard. We used our skills of measure and mathematical vocabulary to compare the wands to the size of the worms.
Reception
Magic beans on toast
The giant from ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ invited us to his castle cafe for magic beans on toast. We had to take our own beans along to the cafe though, it is a good job we had been on a visit to TESCO the day before.
Our pancakes were much nicer than Mr Wolf’s pancakes!
Chinese New Year
We enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year. We cleaned ready for the new year, made lanterns, did some dragon dancing and set up our own Chinese restaurant. We even wrote our name in Chinese writing. What a super time we had!
Our Eco Garden Transformation- Thank You Mr and Mrs Allchin
A huge thank you to our volunteers, Mr and Mrs Allchin, who have been sprucing up our eco garden, ensuring all weeds are removed and planting a range of new bulbs and plants. The bulbs are beginning to sprout, as we approach the spring and the children can't wait to...
Can I make an appointment please?
Following the children’s interest and them finding resources of their own we changed our role play to our very own hairdressers.
The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch
We have enjoyed sharing the story as a class of ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’ as well as investigating other light sources, building our own pulley system and baking lighthouse biscuits.
Multi-skills event
Today 14 children from Reception represented our school in the Gateshead Schools Partnership multi-skills event at Gateshead stadium. It was a super morning and we found the venue to be amazing. Lots of “wows” as we entered the stadium and saw the pitch and track.
Our History Gallery
Year 1 enjoyed welcoming Reception into our class today, showing them what we had been learning about in History lessons, thinking about the life of our grandparents. We explained about the toys, technology, jobs and much more as well as listening to music on a...
