Thankyou and well done to all of you who wrote a sports day poem and entered into the Gateshead School Sports competition. From an impressive 500 entries across all key stages for #WRITEUNITE the winners have been chosen by author and illustrator Liz Million. I am absolutely thrilled to tell you all that a pupil from this school has won the KS1 category!! The winner is from Miss Winskill’s class in year 2, can you guess who?
Todays the day
It’s sports day
But I open up my curtains
And outside the clouds are grey
The letter said
Grownups bring a picnic,
Sit and watch in the sun,
Mummy packs an umbrella
But say’s it will still be fun.
The board in the yard says
“Even though the clouds are
Grey, please still come”
The teachers say’s “A bit of rain
Never hurt anyone”
We go outside wearing t-shirts in our
Team colours,
(Now hidden under coats and jumpers)
But now the sky seems even duller!
The egg and spoon race,
Beanbags, throwing/skipping
Uh-Oh! Brollies up
It’s started spitting!
The final race is over
This year’s sport’s day’s done.
This year’s not been sunny, but don’t worry
Next year there’ll be sun!
