This half-term, as part of our work around Japan, we have been exploring Japanese art.

We looked at a variety of Japanese artforms such as calligraphy, pencil drawings and manga, but our most impressive piece by far was our replicas of The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. Using pencil and water-colour, pupils practise the sketching and painting skills required to pull-off their masterpiece, before completing their final draft on a piece of card.

Below are a selection of pieces from the class. I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re fantastic and we’re so proud of how well the children were able to improve their sketching and painting skills this half-term.
