Last week saw the whole school take part in a full week of sports and commonwealth related activities. We started the week off with an opening ceremony to promote and celebrate the upcoming commonwealth games and PE and school sport in our school, as well as to introduce what the children would be doing. The children watched a flash back video of all the sport/activities/events/clubs they had took part in during the school year to remind them of how much we really do! We then watched our fabulous reception class perform their inspiration dance, they were amazing! Each day, the children took part in a commonwealth activity such as; table tennis, basketball, volleyball, athletics and hockey. The children had so much fun trying out these sports, as well as all the other daily challenges, resourced by ‘bring the power’ GSSP and the youth sport trust. Wednesday was the start of our sports day with EYFS taking part in a carousel of activities as well as competitive races! On Thursday, we hosted KS1 and KS2 sports day, it was the perfect day with the sun shining and parents back on site! We are all so proud of the children as they were so encouraging of their teams and the others! Everyone tried their best and just had so much fun. On Friday, Miss Latto and Miss Winskill took 20 children from KS2 to an athletics competition at Gateshead international stadium. The children took part in field and track events throughout the day, racing and competing with 44 other schools! It was an amazing day and we even had 3 medal winners from year 4! Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to sports week next year!

WELL DONE TO THE YELLOW TEAM ON WINNING SPORTS DAY! Their chosen reward is going to be forest school and water play, with ice creams. What a fabulous way to celebrate.
