Class 2 have been using place value charts to really understand the value of the digits in numbers. We then extended this to completing column additions in the formal method for the very first time. Having the understanding of the value of the digits ensured that we were able to set out our calculations correctly- recognising where tens and ones needed to be placed in relation to each other. Jenga blocks with calculations on made answering these questions a little more fun!
