Today, in our maths lesson, we used different colours to help us when writing the number sentences linked to different part, part, whole models. It was tricky to remember that when we are taking away, we usually always start with the whole number.

We’ve had a hunt this afternoon for deciduous and evergreen trees. We looked on the floor for the leaves that had fallen from the deciduous trees and used these to help us to find the trees. We created a tally chart and a pictogram of our findings.

This afternoon, we went out into the field to look for certain autumn leaves, then brought them back into class to make animals out of the autumn leaves we found.

In maths today, we have been adding two 1-digit numbers together by finding ten first. This then helped us to find the total, as we didn’t need to count every individual counter.
