Designing and creating our light up boxes
The children are now fledged electronic engineers. They have loved designing and creating their light up boxes for DT. They made their own circuits using wires, resistors, LEDs and powered it all using a Raspberry Pi. Fantastic work from all.
Labyrinths in 5B!
As part of our new English unit, we have been investigating the idea of labyrinths and how - in Ancient Greece - they were all made in the same way! Check out our attempts - some are outside, and some are in the hall as rain interrupted our labyrinth-making!
Moving Minibeasts
We have been learning how a moving picture is made and experimenting with making their own. We used a sliding mechanism and decided whether we wanted it to be a horizontal, vertical or diagonal lever.
Giving and following instructions
We started learning about the importance of clear instructions in Computing. We listened to and gave instructions to others to see how important it was to be clearly understood.
Up, up and away!
We have enjoyed exploring our new book ‘Paper Planes’, making our own paper planes and watching them fly. We then thought of different verbs to describe how they moved.
Exploring a range of money containers
As part of our Design Technology, we are going to be designing and making an Anglo Saxon purse. To get us started with some ideas, we had a look at a range of different money containers. We looked at the fastenings, the materials, how many pieces of material were used...
Weather Reporting in 2S!
Self-Image
During PHSE, we have been discussing self-image, body-image and self-esteem. We have also been considering how airbrushed and filtered images may give us unrealistic and false expectations of ourselves. We have been learning how we can combat these negative thoughts...
Weather Ready!
Today we refreshed our knowledge on weather symbols and used them to dress Winnie the Pooh appropriately for all kinds of weather. We discussed items we may need for different kinds of weather, for example the importance of a sun hat and sun cream on a hot, sunny day!
Drawing Animals
Today we have been learning skills which enable us to sketch realistic animals. We focussed on proportion to ensure the features of our animals were accurately scaled. We also used our previously learned shading skills to add depth to our pieces.
