During RE we discussed that light features prominently in the festival of Divali and that it is often used symbolically within everyday life and within religious traditions. The children were asked to create their own acrostic poems or metaphor poems. There were so many great ones to choose from, but I have only included a few. I’m sure you will agree they are fantastic poets.
Light is the power of light and life,
Light is sharing, love and honesty,
Light is peace, angel and guiding,
Light is caring, strength and pride,
Light is family, |God and happiness,
Light is soft, glowing and glistening.

Light is a flame in the dark,
It burns brightly to guide your way,
Giving a sense of hope,
Happiness surrounds us all,
The light will be your friend. Always.

Leading the way through the darkness,
Igniting the warmth of fire,
Gentle sparks flutter in the sky,
Healing the dark,
Taking steps forward.

Light is empowering,
Light is gentle,
Light is calm,
Light is kind,
Light is joy.

Light is kindness,
Light is the sun,
Light is heat and warmth,
Light is protection,
Light is sight,
Light will fight for hope.
