Today, we have applying all our knowledge and skills from the autumn topic of rivers to our local River Derwent. The children were able to identify what part of the river we were visiting. They identified key characteristics to show that we were looking at the middle course of the river. The children completed field sketches of the river labelling those key characteristics. They also investigated the speed of the river at different points using their measuring skills and recorded the data on a table and we even had time to play in the park. What a morning! Smiles all round.
