YEAR 6 ARMS (RED)
Mrs Humberston & Ms WoodWelcome to 6H (ARMS Provision) Class Blog!
In 6H our class teacher is Mrs Humberston & our fantastic teaching assistant is Ms Wood.
The children in this class work very hard but also have a lot of fun.
They have the superb reputation of being one of the most polite and well behaved classes in the school.
The children come from all over Gateshead and some are lucky enough to get a taxi to school.
We all are very kind and respectful towards each other and have lots of fun learning together.
We would like to use this blog to share our homework, our ideas, our fascinating finds, upcoming events and photographs, and we`d really like to know what everyone thinks of them.
Keep Blogging!

What can artefacts teach me about the Egyptians?
4B have been very fortunate to borrow a box of ancient Egyptian artefacts from the Oriental Museum in Durham, so we spent an afternoon exploring the artefacts and asking questions about their use. When we’d all had a good look, we decided to do some research to find...
Forest School
Today was our first Forest School session of the new year and 4B had a great time. Look at at the photos to see how the children explored the environment.

Back to school
We have enjoyed coming back to school, seeing our friends and welcoming new members of the class. We have been creating lots of models of toys we got for Christmas, visiting the farm shop role play area to buy vegetables and painting pictures to take home. We also...
Hansel and Gretel
We read our new class text this week. We enjoyed getting to know the story and characters by taking part in a role-play lesson. We then carried out class discussions about the choices that the characters make at different points of the story.
What is area?
We've been learning about area this week and decided to use post-it notes to explore how we can measure the space taken up by a shape.
Throwing and Catching
We have been developing our throwing and catching skills in PE. We used the underarm technique to throw a ball or beanbag to our peers. Using our hand-eye coordination, we practised throwing and catching from a variety of distances.

Please see the attached letter, which has also been sent out via eSchools. We look forward to seeing you all at school tomorrow. 4.1.22 Covid and Return to School Mrs Clarke
What are the different techniques for sewing?
There are lots of ways to sew: running stitch, backstitch and cross stitch to name a few. But which method is the best? We practised a range of sewing skills in 4B to produce a textile calendar with the Eye of Horus in its centre. Children used a variety of techniques...
How are biscuits made?
Everyone loves a biscuit, but how are they made? 4B have been working in small groups to mix, shape and bake their own tasty Christmas treats!
4B Christmas fun
Friends of Rowlands Gill helped us to celebrate Christmas in the most amazing way possible: a visit from Santa! The man in red told us some tales, answered questions, posed for photos and (of course) handed out presents. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to...
