Welcome to Nursery
Effective Early Years development is all about learning through play and this is what we do best at Rowlands Gill Nursery!
We love to get creative, challenge and expand young minds, helping them grow across all areas of learning. We believe in working with your children; following and supporting their interests, providing an active, enabling and engaging environment.
Nursery Admissions 2018/19
All children are entitled to 15 hours of free provision provided over 38 weeks. some working parents can claim 30 hours of childcare with a validated code available through HMRC. Where a parent or carer chooses to take up fewer than 15/30 hours or chooses to split their entitlement with another provider the criteria will be applied regardless. We provide and allocate nursery places at Rowlands Gill Primary School using the local authority Nursery Education Admissions Policy.
We have 15 and 30 hour places available for the summer 18 term so please contact us if you would like more information.
Nursery Hours are: 8.45-11.45 Monday to Friday for AM sessions, 12.15-3.15 Monday to Friday for PM sessions. Children taking up a 15 hour place will be offered an AM or PM session. If these times are not suitable please contact school as we look at each place individually to suit the needs of the parents and children.

Which country do I live in?
Super Science
We have been LOVING our new Science unit. It is all about humans and other animals. We have learned all about the digestive system and all about our teeth and what their names and jobs are. Year 4 are doctors and dentists in the making!
Colour Hunt
Today we went on a colour hunt. Miss Smales gave us clues and we had to guess the colour. Then we had to go find a object in the classroom to match that colour.
Autumnal walks
We had a brilliant time walking around the school grounds identifying the different signs of Autumn beginning including finding leaves falling from deciduous trees.
How do you find 1, 10, 100, 1,000 more or less?
We have been using our knowledge of place value to find 1, 10, 100, 1000 more or less of numbers beyond 1000. We used place value counters when it got tricky, especially when exchanging. We hope we don't get in trouble for drawing on the tables 🙂
Ordinal number races
We have been using cars and a racetrack to learn about ordinal numbers, and have enjoyed matching the ordinal numbers to the car in each position.
All settled in
Reception have had a super first few weeks in school. They have made new friends, followed our rules and expectations and started small group time work. Well done Reception!
What do we already know about British history?
The children made timelines of all the things that I have learned in key stage one, and then they figured out where the Stone Age would go.
Alexander Calder and cave paintings
Spelling Superstars
Year 4 have been working really hard to learn their new spellings. With this partner work they challenged each other. Who knew spelling could be such good fun?
Apply now for your child’s place in a Primary School in September 2024
If your child or you have friends who's children were born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 they need to apply now for their place in Reception class at school. We are holding an Open Day on Thursday, 23rd November for prospective parents to come and look...
Musical role play
We had lots of fun reading our new class text and adding musical instruments to mimic the footsteps of Jim and the giant. We used drums to show the thunder of the giants footsteps and a triangle to show how light footed Jim is.
